Hello! Here’s the latest October news:
I am currently building my website, as you may guess from any clunky or missing pieces. At the same time, my focus is on completing a body of work on the theme of children’s stories.
I have an exciting sense of urgency, because at the start of November I shall be delivering the complete exhibition to Jo, at Blarney Books and Art in Port Fairy, Victoria (Australia).
It will include my original Mind Drawings with many things to find – including the iconic four-leafed clover. You’ll also discover responses in poetry, and activities in which you can participate, such as the Community Collaborative Drawing.
While producing the works for this exhibition I worked in public at several venues in the South East. At each location I invited the community to add their marks to a drawing, in which they may add to lines already on the paper or to create their own new ones.
I explained that no one is to be precious or to worry if it’s not good enough. Someone else may embellish what you’ve done, as they add their idea of what they see. There’s a freedom in making marks anonymously that allows you to enjoy the moment and reconnect with the joy of drawing.
The collaborative drawing produced by communities of Victoria’s South West, will join the others exhibited in the touring exhibition. After launching at Port Fairy, the next stop will be the Cardinia Cultural Centre in January 2017.
I’m also looking forward to participating in these exciting events in the next week or two (especially the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party).
Important update: This event (FUSION) has been cancelled because there was insufficient interest. Very disappointing for those who had already booked – and for those who intended to book but left it too late.
